                            # 2-- Reflection on ICT integrated lesson.

It was Thursday - the fourth period. I had substitution class in grade V. The subject and the lesson plan handed over to me was Science. The plan was integrated with power point presentation on “Life Cycle of a Frog’’. I must say that children thoroughly enjoyed the session.

I began my actual session by asking few questions to connect with the topic. Before the session started the children were very excited to see the set up of the power point.

We started our video session of “life cycle of a frog “.  While projecting the video in between I paused the video and posed few questions from the video. Unbelievable! Children could give the correct responses. Children were ardently absorbed in the video.

Classroom management was managed so well and there were no mischievous actions during the video session. I have never experienced this kind of atmosphere in this class before. If the atmosphere remained same every teacher would love to teach this class.

At the end of the video I realized that I did forget to give some activities on the topic, though it was not reflected in the plan. I could see the great impact of learning by showing videos. Children learn a lot when they watch the video despite the print in the book.

On August 18th, I had a lesson on phonetic sounds in grade III. The lesson begun with audio clip and some children could not pronounce it properly after listening to it. The reason behind was children could not pronounce words without watching video on the place of articulation. Then I made them to watch video on phonetic sounds. Children could watch and were able imitate phonetic sounds correctly.

 

I realized that the use of ICT has the greatest impact in learning. This lesson if taught without using video and audio clips would have been time consuming and might have been taught different pronunciation. Bringing ICT into the classroom these days is quintessential as it keeps students engaged and caters to the need of their learning styles.
