Reflection on teaching “Articles – a, an, and the”
Every teacher prepares the lesson with a
hope that the delivery of lesson is as per the plan. Sometimes it so happens
that our plan nearly get to a cent percent delivery owing to numerous factors that
need to be consider from both the ends. Learners’ ability to grab what is
taught and teacher needing to find a pace of different learners are one factor
very often have to be adjusted.
My today’s lesson on ‘Articles – a, an, and
the’ could be one example where planned lesson does not cater to needs of
everybody. It was noticed that around 5-6 students in my class couldn’t
understand the clear concept of articles and their usage. The activities given
to them were one way to check and determine how well they have understood my
lesson delivery. Those students could partially get the answers correct for the
questions given to them. With this result I have to plan for some sort of
remedy for them.
All in all, the success rate of my lesson
on ‘articles’ was relatively high as most of the students’ expectation was met
and the objectives of my lesson too. The lesson began by introducing ‘Articles
– a, an, and the’. My burden shifted to the lighter part when some students
shared that they have learned about it on YouTube and other sources. Though
they have idea of the topic but practical usage was not practiced. I taught
them the usage and then given activities. All students actively participated
and could finish the activities within the speculated time.
